erika_sanelyI've got a friend coming around tonight to watch Downtown Abbey tonight. She's recently gotten a new boyfriend, and is trying to keep up her other relationships while in the beginning stage, so we're catching up every Sunday night to watch this together.
It's a bit weird in a way. Not her coming around; I'm glad she's making the effort, and I must admit that when friends get in new relationships I don't try as hard as I should to stay in their lives. (I've never been a fan of PDA's, or even just hand-holding in public. If it looks like it's going to get relationshipy I am not going to be in the same building.)
What's weird, is that it's only been in the last 12 months that I've had people in my RL that I can do fandom-y-like stuff with. I go to a friends house every couple of weeks, and that couple and I sit down and do marathons of Supernatural. (And they live in a different town, so it ends up being a sleep-over. Luckily I get along with their kids as well, and it feels like we've always done this.) There's two people at work whom I talk Doctor Who with (we get caught in the hall-way discussing our theories by the others pretty much every Monday.) And now H and I will have this to watch together.
It feels as though my RL and fandom life are starting to mingle. Almost. None of them know about my livejournal. But it's nice. Having something slightly geeky in common with people I go out with socially on a regular basis.
